A few words about

What We Do

our name

Khale's House (خانه خاله, Khaneyeh Khale) means "Auntie's House" in Persian. In Iranian culture, an aunt's home is regarded as a place of comfort, belonging, and care, where people are welcomed as they are. That spirit guides everything we do.

Khale’s House is a community-rooted third space in the San Fernando Valley: a place for mutual aid, cultural connection, creative expression, and collective resilience. We believe healthy communities are built through meaningful relationships, shared resources, and spaces that reduce isolation while fostering learning, collaboration, and joy.

Grounded in abolitionist values, we see community-building as a practice of creating the world we want to live in today. Through free and low-cost workshops, cultural programming, educational resources, mutual aid efforts, and goods rooted in ancestral knowledge, we work to cultivate a culture of care, reciprocity, and shared abundance.

Our work is sustained through a solidarity economy, where those with greater access to resources help make community offerings accessible to everyone. Every contribution supports the programs that exist today while helping build toward the robust liberatory systems we envision for tomorrow.

Thank you for being part of what we’re creating together.
